Apple has never really been much of a gaming company but that could change this year. iLounge is hearing that Apple is planning a major update for Apple TV sometime over the next two months that will add support for Bluetooth-equipped gaming controllers. What’s more, iLounge’s sources say that Apple wants to let users download iOS games directly to Apple TV instead of having to rely on using their iPhone or iPad. A move to put iOS games on the big screen would be a major move into the gaming sector for Apple, which for a long time has stayed away from investing in gaming. What will be particularly interesting to see is whether adding more game support to Apple TV will change the ambition and quality of games developed for iOS — in other words, if developers know that their games are more likely to be played on a big screen, they might be more likely to invest more in graphics and gameplay features.
