Here’s yet another Apple Pay snafu, and this one could be more than just a minor inconvenience. CNN’s Samuel Burke reports that he and some other Apple Pay users have reported being double charged for transactions they made using their Bank of America-issued cards.

“Today I logged into my debit card account and found that I was charged twice for every purchase I made with Apple Pay,” Burke says after he bought some items using Apple Pay on Tuesday.
Burke first tried to contact Bank of America about this issue, which unsurprisingly tried to pin the blame on Apple Pay for the double charging. When he talked with Apple about it, the company said there was literally nothing it could do since “for security’s sake, they keep no records of names or amounts for any of the transactions.” He then got both BofA and Apple on the phone and after a 90 minute dispute, his bank finally agreed to refund him the money.
Although BofA continues to insist this is a problem on Apple Pay’s end, the company says it’s working to iron out any problems with the system. BofA customers also seem to be the only ones who have been reporting these problems so far, so it will be interesting to see what the final explanation for this problem really is.
UPDATE: Re/code reports that Bank of America is working to rectify this problem and that it should be fixed by the end of today. It says that double charging occurred in roughly 1,000 Apple Pay transactions.
