The world has Android 5.0 fever, and while most Android device owners will have to wait until next year at the earliest to get Lollipop on their phones and tablets, enthusiastic Google fans don’t have to wait another minute. We told you earlier this week that near-final versions of Android 5.0 Lollipop had been made available for some Android devices, including the Google’s “pure” Nexus 5 and Nexus 4 smartphones, as well as one version of the Nexus 7 tablet.
Well, thanks to the XDA Developers forum, the latest version of Android 5.0 can now be downloaded and installed on those devices and many others.

Android blog 9to5Google on Friday has drawn our attention to the fact that the fine folks over on the XDA Developers forum have been hard at work over the past few days, and they have now managed to release installable versions of Android 5.0 Lollipop for not one, not two, but eight different Android devices.
Nothing that launched in the past few months is covered for the time being — in fact, nothing launched in 2014 is covered — but if you own one of these eight devices and you refuse to wait for official Android 5.0 Lollipop releases, you’re in luck:
- Nexus 4
- Nexus 5
- Nexus 7 (2012)
- Nexus 7 (2013)
- Nexus 10
- Sony Xperia Z
- Samsung Galaxy S III Mini
- Samsung Galaxy Nexus
