What’s the worst thing about the iPhone 6, you ask? The limited storage available to the user on the 16GB base versions of the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus is a frequent answer for many iPhone users. Will Apple “fix” this problem this year by removing the 16GB option and offering users who want the cheapest iPhone 6s models 32GB of storage? A new report seems to say that might be the case.

Looking at what Apple is doing with iOS 9 to reduce storage requirements for both the operating system and the apps – not to mention that iOS 9 has the ability to remove and reinstall apps automatically to make room for an update – you’d think Apple was angling to keep the 16GB iPhone in its inventory.

However, Chinese tech site M.I.G Gadget reports that there won’t be a 16GB iPhone 6s this year. The site says that a source from within Foxconn said that there’s no iPhone 6s or iPhone 6s Plus retail box for a 16GB model. Instead, only stickers showing 32GB, 64GB and 128GB have been made.

The site doesn’t provide any picture to back up the claim at this time. Pictures of the iPhone 6s retail packaging are yet to be leaked. That said, this rumor gets our hopes up that Apple is finally, finally listening to fans who have been pleading with the company to make 32GB the default option for new iPhones.
