We’ve heard some encouraging signs about BlackBerry 10 sales so far in 2013. Now, some of Digitimes‘ unnamed supply chain sources claim that the company has started ramping up production and expects to ship between 30 million to 40 million devices this year. The BlackBerry Q10 in particular has been a hit since its release and has reportedly led to strong sales in Europe and the United States. BlackBerry shipped around 1 million BlackBerry 10 devices last quarter, which was particularly impressive given that the BlackBerry Z10 had only barely hit the market by the time BlackBerry reported its quarterly earnings. The key for the company in the coming months will be how well its low-cost BlackBerry Q5 smartphone sells in emerging markets compared to similarly competitive offerings from Samsung and Nokia.
