The Galaxy Note 6 isn’t due until the second half of the year, with some reports suggesting the phone will be unveiled early this summer, a couple of months sooner than the usual September launch timeframe for Galaxy Note devices. While some people might expect the Galaxy Note 6 to be just a variation of the Galaxy S7, one that comes with a stylus, a new report seems to indicate that might not be the case. In fact, it looks like the Galaxy Note 6 will have a unique chip, and support laptop-grade RAM.

A report from China says the Galaxy Note 6 will have a special Qualcomm Snapdragon CPU under the hood. Rather than the Snapdragon 820 found on most 2016 Android flagships, the phone will pack a 64-bit 2.6GHz quad-core Snapdragon 823 processor with Adreno 530 graphics and support for up to 8GB of RAM.
Assuming this report is correct, it’s not clear whether an Exynos equivalent of the Snapdragon 823 will be released for the Galaxy Note 6, which would help Samsung launch two versions of the new phablet, just like it did with the Galaxy S7 series.
Previous reports claimed the Galaxy Note 6 will ship with 6GB of RAM, more memory than any of its predecessors, and more memory than most smartphones out there.
While it’s too early for a confirmed specs sheet for the Galaxy Note 6, other rumors said recently the phone will have IP68 dust and water resistance certification, as well as an iris unlock mode.
