An 18-year-old man in Helena, Montana threatened to shoot one of his peers after the boy spoiled one of the Star Wars: The Force Awakens subplots.
Arthur Charles Roy was arrested and charged with felony assault with a weapon on Monday during an appearance in Lewis and Clark County Justice Court, Associated Press reports, where he remains in jail with bail set at $10,000.
Roy apparently became angry on Thursday when he learned details about the new Star Wars movie from a Facebook friend. He then sent a picture with himself holding a gun – a Colt 1911 with a “hair trigger” – threatening to come to the victim’s school to shoot him.

The friend then called a school resource officer on Thursday afternoon to report the threat, and Helena’s alternative high school was closed on Friday morning for fear that Roy might actually follow through with his threat.
Police arrested Roy on Friday afternoon, but he hasn’t made any comments to the press since then. His mother said that her boy was only holding a BB gun in the photo, and she wondered why he was detained by police.
On a different note, while we’re definitely trying to prevent Star Wars spoilers from reaching you, those of you who have seen the new movie should check out a bunch of theories about Rey’s family and background (theory No. 1 and theory No. 2) and about what might have turned Kylo Ren’s evil (see this link). Also, a Disney executive’s innocent remark about Episode VIII also has given us one significant clue about what’s going to happen in the next installment of the new trilogy.
