Samsung’s Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge are available for preorder in many markets, with some retailers already shipping the devices to early buyers. While the curved version is the more lauded model, Samsung has yet to convince us that curved screens have a purpose, and a new video from Droid-Life seems to indicate that there isn’t much of a reason to pay for the curved version.

The software of the edge is similar to what Samsung preloaded on the flatter Galaxy S6 model, but there are special tricks that make the edge displays stand out. However, none of them offers indispensable functionality that would be worth forking over more cash for the curved Galaxy S6 edge.
The publication highlights some software features including People Edge, Edge Lightning, Information Stream and Night Clock, all used to display information to the user using the edge screen on either side. Whether it’s accessing favorite contacts, knowing in advanced who’s calling or quickly glancing over information and notification or checking out the time, these features aren’t really must-haves, and it might be up to developers to figure out better ways of using the screen’s edges.
