Samsung stole the show when it announced the new Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge edge during its big Mobile World Congress 2015 press conference. The devices represent a huge departure from the norm for Samsung smartphone designs, and they’re also packed full of cutting-edge technology that makes them both absolute beasts in terms of performance.

Among the two phones, the Galaxy S6 edge is clearly the more exciting and appealing handset. But what, exactly, do those two sloping sides of the phone’s display actually do?

As I noted in my hands-on with the Galaxy S6 edge, the phone is positively stunning. I also briefly covered several of the various functions of the phone’s curved sides.

The edges of the Galaxy S6 edge display aren’t separate “edge panels” like the curved side of the Galaxy Note Edge. Instead, they’re continuations of the main display sitting under subtly curved glass.

While they don’t show separate content like the Note Edge’s edge panel does, the sloping sides on the Galaxy S6 edge do offer some unique functionality, and CNET recently posted a quick photo gallery showing all of the cool features the S6 edge’s display has to offer.

A few of the images showing things like quick access to your favorite contacts, missed message notifications and edge screen notification lighting follow below, and the rest can be seen by following the source link.
