There are sure to be plenty of great gaming deals over the holidays, but not even the best of Black Friday is going to be able to compete with this ridiculous scam. Earlier this month, Walmart announced that it would match the prices of certain online retailers, including Amazon.
“We’re committed to providing low prices every day, on everything,” Walmart says on its website. “So if you find a current lower online price from an online retailer on an identical, in-stock product, tell us and we’ll match it.”

Needless to say, consumers were quick to take advantage of the mistake, as Kotaku reported.
One Amazon user with the name “AmzonElectronics” set up a third-party listing which showed the PS4 on sale for just $89.99. Although Amazon removed the listing promptly, many consumer who printed the listing off were able to bring it into their local Walmart stores and receive the lower price.

The story made national news on Tuesday, prompting a report from CNBC, so it’s unlikely that any further attempts will be successful. Regardless, this is sure to make price-matching a much riskier proposition for retailers in the future.
