Is Apple taking a page from Samsung’s classic gadget spam playbook? G for Games points us to a new report from Taiwan’s Economic Daily News claiming that Apple is planning to release three different versions of its fabled iWatch — one version with a 1.6-inch display and two different versions with a 1.8-inch display, with only one version having a display that’s made from sapphire.

This new rumor contradicts a report from Reuters we read last month claiming that one version of the iWatch would come with a massive 2.5-inch display, although we have to admit that having a 1.8-inch display makes a lot more sense for something that fits on your wrist. Concepts showing how a 2.5-inch rectangular display might look on your wrist didn’t help matters either because they made the watch look much to bulky for anyone to wear.

At this point, however, we really are largely still in the dark about Apple’s final plans for the iWatch. We still haven’t seen one real leaked picture of the device and we’re seemingly getting contradictory rumors about it every other week. In other words, it looks as though Apple is doing a terrific job of keeping this mysteriously new product tightly under wraps until it decides to finally release it.
