The popular Halo franchise is going to see a huge resurgence over the next year and a half, from Halo: The Master Chief Collection and the Halo Nightfall digital series this fall to Halo 5: Guardians next year. That’s three distinct Halo projects all releasing before the end of 2015, but based on the appearance of a job listing on Microsoft’s website this weekend, it looks like developer 343 Industries is already prepping another Halo game for the Xbox One.
The listing is for a “Senior Producer to help develop a new project line in the Halo universe.” Trying to lift hints from these listings can be a bit tedious, but the text does specifically mention that the producer will help “ensure the game hits the quality expected of a title within the Halo Franchise,” so we can probably eliminate any speculation that this is another standalone film or TV project. The qualifications and skills section also harps on the need to be passionate about video games with knowledge of the industry and experience shipping completed titles.
In the same section, 343 notes that the candidate “must have current gen video game knowledge,” which indicates that this likely isn’t a mobile spin-off or a multi-platform release, but rather an Xbox One exclusive. Our best guess is that 343 Industries is working on a game in the same vein as Halo 3: ODST or Halo: Reach — split from the main storyline but within the same universe.
