Where would we be without apps? Perhaps wandering around a desert aimlessly, swiping at a trackball or poking at a resistive touchscreen with a stylus. On-device app portals completely changed the way we use our smartphones, tablets and even computers. Limits are gone, and our smartphones constantly morph with each new piece of software we install. The challenge now, of course, is finding the right applications. And with 1.2 million apps in Apple’s App Store alone, it certainly isn’t easy.
Here at BGR, we do our best to help. Our series on gorgeous iPhone apps looks to highlight some of the best apps out there that you might not have heard of otherwise.
In our latest installment, we covered five fantastic apps including CalPal, Acompli and Harmony 2.
Other sites often publish compilations of apps as well, of course, and we try to point them out when they’re worthwhile. The latest such list comes from TIME Magazine.
Titled simply “50 Best iPhone Apps,” the list is a good one, especially for new iOS users looking to build a solid foundation. There are certainly some iffy picks on there and even a few apps that most would probably argue have no place on the list, but its a solid selection overall.
