The nifty highlight feature on the new HTC One (M8) takes your photos and videos and automatically combines them into a great little highlight reel with effects and music. Of course, the downside is that the M8’s camera doesn’t take very good photos to begin with. What if you want the ability to create similar short highlight reels without having to ditch the awesome camera on your iPhone? Say hello to PhotoMotion.
East Coast Pixels’ PhotoMotion app for the iPhone allows users to create great little highlight movies out of their photos in mere seconds. It’s not automatic like the highlight feature on the HTC One is, but users have far more control over the results with PhotoMotion than they do on the One.
The app lets users control how each image pans and how long each photo appears in the video. Effects can also be added to each photo individually, and text titles can be added to any frame and customized.
The biggest feature omission compared to HTC’s highlight function is the fact that with PhotoMotion, you can’t add music to your reels.
UPDATE: It looks like we didn’t scroll far enough — East Coast Pixels contacted BGR via email to note that music can, in fact, be added to PhotoMotion movies. The option to add music can be found by scrolling down on the project settings page.
