In addition to Samsung’s Galaxy S5 teaser that seems to reveal the phone’s new TouchWiz UI, a purported design render of the handset has also been posted online. Sonny Dickson, whose leaks have proven to be accurate in the past, posted an image that may revel the design of the new handset, as well as its size. According to the image above, the Galaxy S5 may measure 141.7 x 72.5 x 8.2mm. Comparatively, the Galaxy S4 is slightly smaller at 136.6 x 69.8 x 7.9mm. Recent rumors did say that the Galaxy S5 will offer a 5.24-inch display though, which is bigger than the Galaxy S4’s 5-inch screen.
Interestingly, the render seems to reveal that the phone may have an even bigger flash compared to its predecessor (perhaps a dual flash like the iPhone 5s and upcoming HTC One successor), located underneath the main camera, and that the handset will come equipped with hardware buttons.
As for the fingerprint scanner, a Galaxy S5 feature also present in many rumors, the render doesn’t seem to highlight a dedicated button like on the iPhone 5s for example. The Galaxy S5 is rumored to have its fingerprint scanner placed under the screen though, allowing the user to press on the display to activate fingerprint-related features.
While the Galaxy S5 has been detailed in a variety of reports and leaks so far, images showing the device have not been shared online yet. In recent interviews, Samsung execs said that the phone will offer users a new design, suggesting the Galaxy S5 will not look like its predecessor after the Galaxy S4 was criticized for its resemblance to the Galaxy S3.
