A Dutch court on Wednesday ruled that Samsung’s (005930) popular line of Galaxy tablets do not infringe Apple’s (AAPL) design patents. The ruling echoes a similar decision in England from last October, in which a court ruled that the Galaxy Tab 10.1, Galaxy Tab 8.9, and Galaxy Tab 7.7 don’t infringe on the iPad’s design. The Dutch court noted that while the tablets share a similar rectangular shape and rounded corners, the overall design and presentation of the devices are different. Samsung said in a statement to Reuters that the company continues to “believe that Apple was not the first to design a tablet with a rectangular shape and rounded corners,” adding that “the origins of Apple’s registered design features can be found in numerous examples.”
