HTC poised to strike back against Apple with LTE patents

While Samsung (005930) is still reeling from its defeat at the hands of Apple (AAPL), HTC (2498) could provide a boost to beleaguered Android OEMs everywhere by successfully suing Apple over alleged violations of its LTE patents. Bloomberg reported late last week that U.S. International Trade Commission Judge Thomas Pender said that he’d have to be overwhelmed with evidence to rule that HTC’s LTE patents are invalid, thus giving HTC a big advantage if it decides to seek an import ban on both the new LTE-capable iPad and the soon-to-be released next-generation iPhone, which is also rumored to support LTE connectivity.
