Google’s fresh new Android 4.4. KitKat update is set to be released later this month and when it finally does begin rolling out, it will be aimed at more than just smartphones and tablets. According to a report from ET News, Android 4.4 is the start of a huge push that will see Google attempt to dominate the TV platform market much like it currently dominates the smartphone market. The report doesn’t include many specifics, though it does state that KitKat will include a new TV interface that is dramatically improved compared to the old Google TV UI. An earlier report stated that Google is preparing to rebrand Google TV as “Android TV,” and KitKat could very well usher in that initiative. Android 4.4 KitKat is expected to launch in the coming days alongside Google’s new Nexus 5 smartphone.
