There’s no denying the appeal of a $99 computer, and the Zonbu PC is no exception. This tiny box sports an equally tiny footprint, and packs a surprising amount of power into such a small package. The standard kit includes 512 MB RAM, an “Intel-compatible ultra-low power CPU,” a graphics card, Ethernet card, and 6 USB ports. It only sports a 4 GB flash drive, but you’re getting the benefit of flash memory, right? Nothing earth shattering, but for $99 you can’t expect much more. The icing on the cake is that this little bastard uses shocking little electricity, making it easy on your power bill, and good for the environment. $99, low power consumption passable spec sheet…what’s the catch? It’s a decent package, but to get the $99 PC price, you have to sign a two year service agreement and commit to forking over between $12.95 and $19.95 a month depending on the amount of online storage you want. If you want to pick up the PC without the service you’re welcome to do so, but at $249 it starts to look considerably less attractive. The Zonbu is available beginning today.
