Godzilla

. Jurassic World. Ghostbusters.

These are just a few of the countless movie reboots we’ve had to endure over the past few years, and the industry shows no signs of slowing. Heck, Tom Cruise is set to star in a remake of The Mummy next year. No matter how much we groan and roll our eyes, reboots, remakes and sequels are here to stay.

Thankfully, some are actually worthwhile.

DON’T MISS: 12 new movie trailers from this past week that you need to watch

In a new video, Screen Rant has taken a look back at five movie reboots that managed to not only live up to lofty expectations, but actually trump the quality and entertainment value of the original movie.

The first happens to be one of the biggest movies of 2015: Mad Max: Fury Road. After topping countless Best Of lists at the end of the year, taking home its fair share of Academy Awards and introducing a new generation to the brilliance of George Miller, it’s hard to deny that Fury Road has become the new high-water mark.

The reboots that receive the least scrutiny are the ones based on movies several decades old, as was the case with Ocean’s Eleven. With its all-star cast and snappy, clever script, this reboot almost instantaneously became the only movie anyone was referring to when they brought up Ocean’s Eleven.

Check out the rest of the great reboots in the video below:
