How well do you know your iPhone? Every iPhone owner reading this right now will likely pretty confident in his or her knowledge of Apple’s iOS platform, but there are always plenty of things you don’t know about your smartphone. I always try to share cool tips and tricks for iPhone (and Android) users as I come across them in an effort to help people get the most out of their devices..
Today, I happened upon a list of six “secret tricks you didn’t know your iPhone could do.” I’m not sure how “secret” they all are, but there’s actually one trick in there that even I didn’t know about.
A couple of the secret tricks in Time’s post are a bit silly. For example, even if you weren’t aware that you could go into your iMessage settings in the Settings app and enable read receipts, is that really a secret trick?
The same goes for enabling HDR in your camera settings. HDR status is hardly hidden, since it’s sitting right at the top of the camera interface.
On the other hand, a few of Time’s tips are quite interesting. One example is an accessibility setting that allows you to set the iPhone’s camera flash to blink when new messages arrive.
Also nifty is the fact that you can use the volume keys on your headphones to snap pictures with the camera. It obviously makes sense, since you can use the phone’s hardware volume keys to snap pics, but I had never thought about it before.
