Anyone who’s ever had trouble charging an aging smartphone, move over — one iPhone 5c owner has any sob stories you have beat. A Redditor who goes by the name of moviedude26 this week posted a hilarious picture that shows the single most elaborate iPhone charging setup we’ve ever seen that involves wood clamps and a jar of clay.

Why did he have to go to such lengths just to plug in his iPhone? We’ll let him explain in his own words.

“It started about 4 months ago, I would have to jostle the connection a bit, but no big deal,” he writes on Reddit. “Then around New Years it escalated and now I have to solve a pressure puzzle just to get any juice to flow continuously. Usually these were simple enough, and only took a few minutes to solve, but they’ve since become worse. Until I worked out this contraption with woodclamps and a weight (jar of clay from the Colorado River) it’s been taking me about 15 minutes every night to get the damn thing to stay. I’m not up for renewal until October, so I guess this is my new charging dock.”

This looks like such a monumental pain to set up that if someone started a Kickstarter campaign to help him buy a new phone, we would definitely consider donating to it just to help him out.
