Forget about Kim Kardashian and definitely, definitely forget about Alicia Keys. BlackBerry has received a ringing endorsement from author E.L. James, who wrote a good chunk of her smash hit 50 Shades of Grey on a BlackBerry phone.
Business Insider reminds us that James first talked about using her BlackBerry to write the novel back in 2012, which is really may be the first instance we’ve heard of large portions of a best-selling novel being written on a smartphone instead of a PC. James would write parts of the book on her BlackBerry while commuting on public transportation and would then beam the text to her Mac at night.
Of course, writing such a novel on a touchscreen-only device might be a lot more difficult, which is why it makes sense that the book was written on a BlackBerry with its iconic physical keyboard.
Why is this such a good celebrity endorsement for BlackBerry? Well, it fits in with the company’s mantra of how its devices help people get work done, even if that work involves writing tawdry S&M-fueled erotica.
We wouldn’t expect to see James pop up in any BlackBerry ads, however, although she could make a pretty persuasive case that BlackBerry phones are the ones that can help fantasies come true…
