Apple (AAPL) and Samsung (005930) are back in court battling over the particulars of their earlier trial in which Apple was awarded more than $1 billion in damages when 26 Samsung devices were found to have infringed various Apple patents. Since that ruling, a key patent Samsung was found to be infringing was tentatively found to be invalid — that finding was recently reiterated, FOSS Patents reports — and Samsung is now arguing that its damages should be reduced by $600 million according Bloomberg. Apple is arguing that it should receive an additional $536 million in damages, however, disregarding the USPTO’s findings entirely. The judge presiding over the case is expected to make a decision soon.
