What’s hotter than an N95? An N95 with Assisted GPS, of course. An upcoming firmware update for Nokia’s flagship handset is set to bring a host of improvements, marking the second major revision since the handset’s release. Not too shabby, Nokia. The latest changes include a new version of Nokia Maps, as well as our personal favorite, Assisted GPS. A-GPS as it’s called, manages to increase the speed with which the handset gets a satellite fix, reducing the fix time from about 90 seconds to roughly 60 seconds. It does this by using cell tower data, in conjunction with GPS information, to more quickly establish the unit’s location. There’s no word on when this update will go live, but expect it sooner rather than later. Keep em’ coming, Nokia!
