All the X-Files fans who were hoping FBI agents Mulder and Scully would one day return were probably more than excited to hear that Fox committed to a new X-Files series, albeit a short one. Now, the TV network has revealed more details about the debut of this six-episode X-Files run.

The new X-Files series will premiere on Sunday, January 24th, 2016, at 10:00 p.m. ET, following the NFC championship game, Fox revealed. The second episode will air on January 25th at 8:00 p.m. ET, which will be the regular time slot for the series.
“The thrilling, six-episode event series, helmed by creator/executive producer Chris Carter and starring David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson as FBI Agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully, marks the momentous return of the Emmy- and Golden Globe Award-winning pop culture phenomenon, which remains one of the longest-running sci-fi series in network television history,” Fox said in its announcement.
The plot of this short X-Files series has not yet been revealed, but at least fans know when to expect its arrival.
