As the underdog, Microsoft (MSFT) is putting its weight behind educating consumers on the advantages of Windows Phone. The company’s Windows Phone Blog announced that its new “Meet Your Match” challenge, similar to its “Smoked by Windows Phone” challenges, has been a huge success in increasing Windows Phone awareness.

Microsoft says 88% of more than 75,000 consumers challenged in the U.S., U.K., France and Germany walked away feeling “Windows Phone was better for them than the phone in their pocket.” Microsoft didn’t get into details, but says the new challenge demonstrates to uninformed consumers why Windows Phone is “more fun, more useful and more personal than what they’re currently using.”

In addition to its in-person challenges, Microsoft says its “Meet Your Match” YouTube videos are also performing well, with over 600,000 views and 88% of viewers “liking” them, suggesting Windows Phone’s public image is changing as consumers search for iOS and Android alternatives.
