If breakfast is the most important meal of the day, then it stands to reason that people who are highly successful eat quality breakfasts too… right? Well, maybe. Business Insider has posted a list of what 12 highly successful people eat for breakfast and most of them are exceptionally healthy. That said, we know at least one prominent example of a successful person who isn’t on Business Insider’s list that counters the idea that you need to eat well in the morning to be a success.

We’re referring, of course, to famed investor Warren Buffett, who confessed earlier this year that he ate a healthy mix of ice cream and Coke for breakfast every day, which isn’t exactly the most up-and-at-’em morning food combination we can think of.
All the same, Business Insider’s list shows that many successful people do eat healthy breakfasts, including former U.K. prime minister Margaret Thatcher (grapefruit and coffee), Virgin CEO Richard Branson (fruit salad and the granola-like muesli) and pop singer Justin Timberlake (waffles with flax, a scrambled egg and a protein shake).
Interestingly, the CEOs of businesses that sell both healthy and unhealthy foods also eat quality breakfasts. Whole Foods CEO John Mackey makes a smoothie that includes “almond, oat, rice, or soy milk, fresh fruit, and kale or spinach leaves,” while Popeyes CEO Cheryl Bachelder eats scrambled eggs and oatmeal.
