Verizon Wireless (VZ) announced this week that it will be waiving all charges for domestic voice and text usage between October 29th to November 16th for customers affected by Hurricane Sandy in New York and New Jersey. No action is required to be eligible for the program, and those customers in designated areas of impact will not be charged for their usage during the two-week period. Customers will still be responsible for monthly access and data fees, however. In the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy, AT&T (T) and T-Mobile also announced last week plans to waive late fees for customers in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut and Pennsylvania.
