Top 10 Android Phones

Performance is more than just numbers on a sheet of paper. Smartphone specs tell part of the story, but they never tell us the whole story. Apple has proven that time and time again as its dual-core iPhones with 1GB of RAM continue to slaughter quad- and octa-core rivals in performance tests. Meanwhile on the Android side of things, specs on recent smartphones have often appeared quite similar on paper.

As we see in head-to-head performance comparisons, however, not all Android phones are created equal.

Now that July is here, the benchmark experts at AnTuTu have rounded up the average scores of every major Android smartphone from the first half of 2015 and ranked them.

No one paying attention will be surprised by the two phones at the top of the list. Beyond the gorgeous design overhaul that saw Samsung use premium materials for the first time, the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge feature class-leading internal components that push performance to the next level.

The No. 3 spot is occupied by China-based Apple ripoff artist Xiaomi and it’s Mi Note Pro, while the LeTV 1 Pro sits in the No. 4 spot. Both smartphones are powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 810 chipset.

The ZTE Nubia Z9 Max is ranked No. 5 for the first half of the year, and HTC’s One M9 found its way to sixth place. Of note, Samsung’s year-old Galaxy S5 still managed to make this year’s list in the No. 9 spot.

A chart showing the top 10 Android phones of 1H 2015 follows below, along with their average benchmark scores on AnTuTu’s performance test.
