Battery life is, and will continue to be, one of the most important factors to consider when purchasing a new Android smartphone or tablet. After all, what good are all those amazing features and apps if your battery is going to die while you’re in the middle of enjoying them? Battery technology isn’t keeping pace with other technological advancements at all, and with all of the new devices that launch every month, it’s hard to determine which phones and tablets will give you the most bang for your buck where battery performance is concerned.

Now, one of the world’s leading benchmark test providers has issued a list of the 10 best Android devices on the planet, ranked by battery performance.

Futuremark has a massive database of performance results for more than 2,000 different devices, and the company recently issued some top-10 lists as 2014 winds down. Among the lists is a ranking by battery performance, and it might be the most interesting list the company has issued.

Since tablets are so much bigger than smartphones, they can pack much larger batteries into their cases and the result is often better battery life. As it turns out, however, a couple of smartphones managed to sneak onto the list with battery life that will blow you away.

In fact, a smartphone somehow managed to top the list, beating out hundreds of Android tablets to steal the No. 1 spot.

Futuremark’s full list can be seen in the image below, and even more devices ranked by battery life can be found by following the link down in our source section.
