The Samsung Style Report has a horrible name, I think we can all agree on that. It also, however, highlights some tech that Samsung should consider bringing over to this hemisphere. Showcased recently at KES2008, we have little doubt that the Style Report will only be released in the Asian region but this is the kind of handset that could really do well here, if well-subsidized. Sure, we don’t have DMB here which would greatly detract from one of the biggest selling points of this handset – the external touchscreen capable of displaying videos and DMB TV – but throw a MediaFLO chip in there and younger AT&T customers would likely be fighting for position in line. Spec highlights:
- 2.2-inch color external touchscreen display
- 2.2-inch internal display
- ‘Personal UI’ desktop customization
- 3-megapixel camera
- Quad-band GSM
- 3G
- Bluetooth
- T-DMB TV tuner
The price point will be somewhere north of US $500 when the phone is released in South Korea which would likely give it a subsidized price in the US of well under $200 if Samsung did bring the phone to the US via a carrier.
