Samsung made some big promises about the Galaxy S6’s battery life but so far we’ve seen several complaints that the device’s battery isn’t living up to the hype. Per AndroidCentral, Samsung has released an update to its Samsung Push app in Google Play that includes “patches for reducing data usage and power consumption.”

For those of you who don’t know, Samsung Push is the app Samsung uses to deliver push notifications to its assorted services such as Samsung Pay, S Health and more. The update is going out to other phones besides the Galaxy S6 such as the Galaxy S5 and the Galaxy Note 4, so hopefully it should bring battery life improvements to multiple phones.
In our review of the Galaxy S6, we found the device had roughly average battery life that could get us through a whole day but that also could get dangerously low by the end of the day. This is more problematic than on previous Samsung flagship phones because the Galaxy S6 does not have an easily replaceable battery, so if your battery degrades further it will take more work to get it replaced. Samsung this week revealed that it will charge $45 to swap out your battery for you after a year of owning the device.
