Sony has confirmed that starting with Bungie’s hotly anticipated game “Destiny,” PlayStation 4 owners will be able to pre-download any games that have been pre-ordered from its digital content store ahead of their launch dates, to have them ready to go the instant new titles become available for sale.

Oddly, the message confirming this PS4 feature has been posted in a note received by PS4 owners who pre-ordered Watch Dogs, a game that will start selling on Tuesday, and which will be available as a digital download from the PlayStation Store starting at 12:01 a.m. EDT on May 27.

“We also wanted to let you know that Watch Dogs does not support the pre-downloading feature,” Sony said in its message, as seen in the screenshot above shared by a NeoGAF forum poster. “However, beginning with Destiny, all pre-orders on PlayStation Store will have the pre-download functionality.”

Destiny, a massively multiplayer online action role-playing first-person shooter, will launch on September 9, 2014, on a variety of platforms including PS4, PS3, Xbox One and Xbox 360, while a beta testing phase will kick off in July.

Gameplay videos for the action-packed Destiny game are available here and here.
