Popcorn Time app brings ‘Netflix for pirates’ to Android devices

It’s been over a month since we checked in on the fascinating Popcorn Time saga, and it appears that even after a few bumps in the road, progress on the torrent streaming app is progressing smoothly. The Next Web reports that the latest version of the revived Popcorn Time app is able to stream TV show torrents as well as movies, expanding the catalog of content immensely. Additionally, the group behind Time4Popcorn (another spin-off of the original program), has released an Android app, complete with all the features of the desktop app.

Although the app was quickly taken down from Google Play on account of “intellectual property violation,” Time4Popcorn has linked directly to the .apk file on its homepage. The full list of apps, extensions and plugins can be found on the group’s Github page.

It’s probably understood, but streaming high quality torrents on your mobile devices is likely to burn through your data plan before you can reach the end of a film. It’s also worth keeping in mind that you’re always putting yourself at risk while streaming pirated content.
