Some time ago, when dinosaurs still roamed the Earth, there were no smartphones to help teens and tweens take selfies on the go. Instead, if you wanted a selfie, you had to find an establishment with a photo booth, drop in a few quarters, and then sit down and make funny faces to create a sequence of four photos. Now, the magic of that simpler time has been recaptured by an iPhone app called Pocketbooth — minus the need to actually go anywhere, of course.
Pocketbooth for the iPhone is a nifty vintage app that looks to recreate the photo booth experience for the digital age. The interface uses wood grain and vintage colors to set the mood, and some apropos photo effects seal the deal.
Here’s an excerpt from the app’s description:
Main Features at a glance:
⇀ Create stunning vintage-style photo strips that look like they were taken in a real photo booth
⇀ Choose from five integrated photo effects, two paper types and two border styles
⇀ Use either the front or the rear facing camera of your iPad, iPhone, or iPod touch (iPhone 3G and 3GS only have a rear-facing camera)
⇀ Add even more filters and borders with three new expansion packs
⇀ Make use of your iPhone‘s flash in dark environments (rear-facing camera of iPhone 4/4S and 5/5C/5S only)
⇀ Optionally save your GPS location with every photo strip (can be disabled via Settings > Privacy > Location Services)
⇀ Print directly from within the app using an AirPrint-enabled printer
⇀ Share your photo strips with friends and followers on Facebook and Twitter or by email
⇀ Optionally auto-save photostrips to the Camera Roll
⇀ Export your entire set of photo strips to the Camera Roll any time you like
Pocketbooth is normally $0.99 in the App Store but it’s free right now for a limited time. A link to Pocketbooth’s App Store page can be found below in our source section.
