Leak: This is the Nexus 6

Nexus 6 Phone

After weeks of rumors that have been stirring up a huge amount of buzz among Android enthusiasts, Wednesday is the day that Google’s next-generation Nexus 6 smartphone should finally become a reality. And truth be told, if the rumors we have seen up to this point pan out, the new supersized Nexus 6 is definitely a handset worth getting excited about.

With Google’s official announcement supposedly just hours away, the rumor mill has one last treat for us, and it’s a big one: Google’s Nexus 6 has seemingly been pictured next to an iPhone 6 Plus, giving us a good idea of just how massive this year’s Nexus smartphone really is.

FROM EARLIER: Nexus 6 and Nexus 9 pricing may have just been revealed in a new leak

The Motorola-built Nexus 6 will be the fastest and most powerful smartphone ever launched under Google’s Nexus initiative, and as we can now see quite clearly, it will also be the largest as well. Gadget blog TK Tech News, which is known for leaking early photos of unreleased smartphones, has now posted an image of a handset claimed to be the Nexus 6 sitting next to Apple’s gigantic iPhone 6 Plus.

Here’s the leaked photo (click to enlarge):

We’ve seen supposed photos of Google’s Nexus 6 leak a few times now, but this is the first time we can really get a good idea of the phone’s size. The iPhone 6 Plus is a monstrous 158.1mm tall, and we can clearly see that the handset in the above image is about the same height, or perhaps even slightly taller than Apple’s phablet. Of course, the Nexus 6 also has a much bigger display, according to rumors, so it arguably makes better use of its huge stature.

Previous leaks and rumors paint a pretty good picture of what we can likely expect from the Nexus 6. Spec highlights include a quad HD display with a resolution of 2,560 x 1,440 pixels and a pixel density of 498 pixels per inch, a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 processor, 3GB of RAM, 32GB of storage, a 13-megapixel rear camera, a 2-megapixel front-facing camera, a 3,200 mAh battery and Android L.

Also of note, Google supposedly plans to share Android L launch details on Wednesday, and the new operating system could become available to some Nexus phones and tablets at the same time.
