Samsung’s bad recent financial earnings raised a clear signal that the giant handset maker needs to make some changes to its smartphone lineup, and there are already signs that the company has gotten the message and it’s working on reinventing itself. Samsung has just launched a couple of metal smartphones, the Galaxy A3 and Galaxy A5, and is rumored to be designing the Galaxy S6 — aka Project Zero — from scratch, rather than improving on past Galaxy S design versions. Furthermore, SamMobile has learned that Samsung is also working on a new series of smartphones.

It’s not known what the new family will be called, but the company is said to “soon come up with new smartphone range with single letter naming convention, similar to that of the Galaxy A series.” Thus, silly handset names like the once-glorious Sprint Samsung Galaxy S II Epic 4G Touch will be a distant memory.
Other details about this particular Samsung smartphone family have not been shared at this time, so it’s not clear what they’ll have to offer in terms of specs or design.
For what it’s worth, the metal-only Galaxy A versions will soon hit stores in various markets, though they’re not the flagship handsets with sturdy design you’re waiting for Samsung to make.
