A day after teasing its upcoming handset in an online advertisement, Motorola on Wednesday launched a sign-up page for its highly anticipated Moto X smartphone. The company noted that the Moto X will be the “first smartphone designed, engineered and assembled in the USA,” adding that it expects to add more than 2,000 workers to its workforce in Fort Worth, Texas by the end of the summer. Motorola previously revealed that it will give users the freedom to customize the Moto X, though it provided no specific details. Earlier rumors suggested that one variation of the smartphone would be equipped with a 720p display, a 1.7GHz dual-core Snapdragon S4 Pro processor, a 10-megapixel camera and a nearly stock version of Android 4.2 Jelly Bean. The Moto X is expected to launch in August across multiple carriers.
