If you thought that 2K resolution is a bit too much for a smartphone featuring a display that’s barely bigger than 5 inches diagonally, then you might be shocked to learn handset makers aren’t stopping there. MyLGPhones has discovered a file on LG’s website that seems to indicate the upcoming LG G4’s display will have a 3K resolution.

Specifically, the user agent profile lists an LG-VS999 handset with a 2880 x 1620 screen. Comparatively, the LG G3 has a 2560 x 1440 resolution 5.5-inch display.
It’s not clear how big the LG-VS999’s screen is — and it’s not even confirmed this is an LG G4 version, though it’s believed to be Verizon’s G4 model, considering that Verizon’s G3 version has model number LG-VS985.
Assuming the G4 also has a 5.5-inch display just like the G3, Phone Arena says that at 3K resolution, the device will have a pixel density of around 600 pixels-per-inch (ppi) that’s going to be even higher than anything available so far — the 5.1-inch Galaxy S5 LTE-A has a 576ppi display.
