LG failed to impress us with its flagship G2 last year, but the South Korean company is looking to try again with an even smaller model in 2014. LG announced on Thursday that the LG G2 mini would start shipping to select Russian territories in April, then expand to markets in Europe, Asia, Latin America, the Middle East and Africa in the following weeks.
As previous reports had indicated, the phone will feature a 4.7-inch 960 x 540 pixel resolution display, a major downgrade from the full HD display of the G2. Depending on the region in which the phone is released, LG will be offering slightly different variations of the G2 mini.
Most regions will receive a variant of the phone which has been confirmed to house a 1.2 GHz quad-core processor, 8GB of internal storage, 1GB of RAM, 8-megapixel camera, 2,400 mAh removable battery, SD card slot and Android 4.4 KitKat. The Latin American and Middle Eastern LTE variants will feature an upgraded 1.7 GHz Nvidia quad-core Tegra 4i processor and 13-megapixel camera.
LG still hasn’t announced a price for the mini hero phone, but we’ll find out when the phone launches next month.
