Amazingly, someone still really thinks Apple is ‘doomed’

Is Apple Doomed? No

At this time last year, it was fashionable to claim that Apple was “doomed” since the company hadn’t come out with a major new product category since the iPad, its iPhones were still smaller than what many smartphone users wanted and its share price was down significantly from its onetime peak in 2012. One year later, though, the notion that Apple is “doomed” seems downright foolish: The iPhone 6 and 6 Plus are smash hits, the Apple Watch is on its way next year and the company’s share price has rocketed to record highs.

THAT DIDN’T LAST LONG: It looks like Apple finally isn’t ‘doomed’ anymore

However, it looks like some pundits are still clinging to their contrarian narrative that Apple is in huge trouble and will collapse any day now while a sobbing Tim Cook goes to Steve Jobs’ grave and begs him for forgiveness. Ken Segall directs our attention to a recent piece from Quentin Fottrell at Market Watch, who lists 10 things that “Apple won’t say” in public. The first on the list is that the company is “running out of ideas.”

Yes, despite the imminent launch of the Apple Watch and the early success of the Touch ID-enabled Apple Pay this year, Apple is running out of ideas.

Fottrell says that the Apple Watch is merely “a riff on existing smartwatches, such as Samsung’s Gear S,” which is just not true — uniquely among smartwatches unveiled so far, the Apple Watch uses a crown on the side of the device as its main navigation tool while Android Wear watches rely primarily on touch displays. That doesn’t guarantee the Apple Watch will be a success, of course, but it does show Apple isn’t just pushing out copies of existing smartwatches.

The second thing that Fottrell  says Apple “won’t say” is that its customers are tired of upgrading their iPhones… despite the fact that Apple posted record iPhone 6 sales this past fall. Fottrell also says that Apple’s iPhones are so popular that they’re ruining people’s sex lives and that people who own Apple products tend to use them to buy more things than people who use Android… and wait, these are supposed to be signs that Apple is doomed?

At any rate, you can check out Fottrell’s full piece at the source link below but we recommend staying away from it if you want to avoid dealing with a massive headache induced by poor reasoning.
