Apple reportedly considered making its new Force Touch feature from the Apple Watch exclusive to the iPhone 6s Plus in the next round of iPhones set to debut later this year, but that doesn’t appear to be the case anymore, according to a new report.

The new Force Touch gesture that’s already available on some 2015 Macs and on the Apple Watch lets users access hidden options by pressing more firmly on a device’s trackpad or display. While the feature was expected to arrive on both new iPhones in 2015, Economic Daily News reports that Force Touch was initially going to be omitted from the smaller iPhone 6s model.
However, Apple has apparently changed its mind, and will add Force Touch sensors on all iPhone 6s models regardless of size. The move is seen as big enough to significantly improve profit margins for suppliers, which are already scrambling to meet Apple’s demands. TPK is expected to be the main supplier of the Force Touch sensors that will be embedded in the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus displays.
Ever since unveiling this new functionality, it became increasingly clear that Force Touch will have a future on iOS devices, with more and more iPhone 6s rumors saying this year’s phones will get the feature. Those reports did not suggest that the iPhone 6s Plus would be the sole recipient of Force Touch sensors, though.
Meanwhile, a fresh iOS 9 report from 9to5Mac sheds further details about the proposed Force Touch functionality on iPhone, saying that the feature will mostly target iOS power users.
