Soon after Apple released iOS 8.1, the first major update for iOS 8, the Pangu team of Chinese hackers that created untethered jailbreak tools for previous iOS versions released a jailbreak tool for iOS 8 and iOS 8.1 devices, though it lacked Cydia support, which is the main reason users would want to jailbreak their devices in the first place. Luckily, as iDownload Blog reports, Cydia creator Saurik has pushed an update to it to make it compatible with jailbroken iOS 8 devices.

Cydia Substrate 0.9.5013 is the update required to make the Cydia store work on jailbroken devices, with the publication having already posted a couple of videos with instructions on jailbreaking devices running iOS 8.1 with help of a Windows computer, and on manually installing Cydia on iOS 8.1 devices, since the app repository is not prepackaged in Pangu’s jailbreak yet — both videos are available below.

As always with unofficial software, BGR advises against installing potentially harmful applications on your device. But if you do want to jailbreak your phone or tablet, make sure you backup your device first, and follow the available guides closely.
