This year’s Mobile World Congress is slowly approaching its end and the GSMA has announced the winners of its annual Global Mobile Awards. Unsurprisingly, considering all the praises it received since launch and its popularity with consumers, the iPhone 6 was chosen the best smartphone of the year. Apple won the award even though it completely blows off MWC every year, although it did share this particular award with LG for its G3 handset.

When it comes to the best low-cost smartphone, the GSMA chose the Moto E, while the Microsoft Surface Pro 3 got the best tablet award, a major win for Microsoft. Finally, when it comes to wearable devices, the Moto 360 won the top award.
This year’s MWC edition has been a pleasantly surprising one, with several companies launching interesting products during the event, including the Galaxy S6 family, the HTC One M9 smartphone and the Huawei Watch, to name just a few. However, they’ll have to wait one more year before they get to compete in GSMA’s annual Global Mobile Awards.
