Apple’s often rumored “iPad mini” could feature a slim bezel display, allowing the screen to occupy a larger portion of the tablet’s face than it does on current iPad models. DigiTimes on Monday cited sources within Apple’s supply chain in claiming the new smaller iPad will utilize 7.85-inch IPS/FFS display panels built by LG Display and possibly AU Optronics as well. While the original iPad, iPad 2 and new iPad features a design that includes a fairly substantial bezel surrounding the screen, Apple’s iPad mini will reduce the size of the bezel, thus allowing Apple to create a smaller overall footprint. DigiTimes also reports that the new 7.85-inch iPad will likely be priced between $249 and $299 when it launches later this year.
