Fifth-gen iPad reportedly set for September, Retina iPad mini still being tweaked

Apple’s fifth-generation iPad has reportedly been finalized and is expected to be released in September. Digitimes reports that “upstream suppliers” have nearly finished preparing to begin mass production of the full-sized iPad and that Apple is “unlikely” to make any additional changes to the device. The next-generation iPad is said to include a slimmer bezel and improved battery life, and it is expected to be completely redesigned to match the iPad mini’s styling. Apple has reportedly not yet decided on final specifications for its second-generation iPad mini, however, which may receive further tweaks. The company is also reportedly still considering whether or not to equip the new mini with a Retina display. Sources told Digitimes noted that if the company decides to include the higher-resolution display, the iPad mini’s release date may be delayed until the end of the fourth quarter.
