This week, Apple updated the iOS distribution graph on its website for the first time in 2015. As of January 5th, iOS 8 adoption has reached 68%, a 5% jump since December. It’s not quite as much growth as the operating system saw from November to December, but iOS 8 is still picking up users at a much faster pace than the competition.

As for the earlier versions of the operating system, iOS 7 has shrunk to 29% from December’s 33% (a second consecutive 4% drop), while iOS 6 and earlier are holding steady at 4%.
9to5Mac notes that analytics service Mixpanel is once again reporting similar results, although has iOS 8 adoption slightly higher at around 70%, iOS 7 at 28% and earlier versions below 3%.
Although the launch of iOS 8 was marred by some of the worst issues in the history of Apple software updates, the company has all but recovered, managing to avoid breaking anything else in the interim. We’re still on the lookout for the full release of iOS 8.2, the next major update and one which will add WatchKit development tools for potential Apple Watch developers.
