BGR posted instructions last month that explained to iOS 6 device users how they can limit third-party advertisers’ access to usage data by enabling the “Limit Ad Tracking” on the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. This procedure will prevent outside companies from having access to private usage data as Apple’s (AAPL) new advertising identifier policy kicks in, but Apple itself will continue to take advantage of usage data in order to serve targeted iAds within apps. Following yesterday’s news that Verizon Wireless (VZ) and AT&T (T) subscribers have to manually opt out of various tracking services, Daring Fireball reminds us that the same rules apply for Apple’s own targeted ad tech tied to iAds. By visiting a simple link from an iPhone, iPod touch or iPad while logged into an iTunes account, users can opt out in one step.
