Google is expected to unveil new Nexus devices later this fall, including at least a new Motorola Nexus smartphone and an HTC Nexus 9 high-end tablet. The latter might be unveiled in the coming weeks, according to MoDaCo’s Paul O’Brien, who posted on Twitter release date details for the tablet twice in the last few days.

FROM EARLIER: WSJ: Google’s Nexus 9 is launching soon

“Anonymous tipster: The HTC Nexus 9 will be launched on 16th October…” O’Brien wrote a week ago, without revealing more details about his findings.

However, on Thursday he returned with a second tweet mentioning an October launch date for a European market. “An interesting new tidbit from my Nexus 9 source, a UK ‘carrier launch’ slated for 24th October…,” he said, without naming the carrier.

The HTC Nexus 9 is expected to be a high-end tablet, even better than Google’s Nexus 7 and Nexus 10 devices, that’s supposed to be released around the same time Android L becomes official. The tablet is expected to offer high-end specs, and thus cost more than its predecessor, at least according to the existing reports.

A few days ago, a report from The Wall Street Journal offered more details about Google’s decision to go with HTC for the Nexus 9, suggesting the tablet will be launching in the coming weeks. Before that, court documents filed by NVIDIA in a new patent case against Samsung also confirmed the HTC Nexus 9’s imminent arrival.

HTC does have a media event planned for October 8th, at which point it could unveil the Nexus 9, as it was believed not too long ago, although the press event might be about a different kind of product.
